Spring Fling 2012
Hi All,
The Spring Fling is planned for April 21st at McKenna's in Lakeview.
McKenna's Village Tavern and Restaurant 321 S Lincoln Ave, Lakeview, MI, (989) 352-9918.
Plan on the Spring General Membership meeting to start at 5 pm and then we'll go into the banquet/party. There are no season points awards this season as we had only 1 race, therefore, all current BEVRA memberships that were paid in full will be carried over into the the 2013 season.
There are many exciting things in the works for the upcoming season so please plan on trying to attend as we need the membership's imput on decisions that affect our future. We will also have some board positions open as Greg Karbowski and Mike Bayne will be leaving and several others whose terms are up and are considering serving another term or retiring. I would like to sincerely thank Mike and Greg for their hard work over the years to help put BEVRA where it is.

Ma Nature wins the war this year..rain and warm temps have done us in for this season. But we will be back with a vengence next season.

02/25/12 RACE CANCELLED!
Sorry guys, we are going to error on the side of caution for this weekend.
We have ice that is at best, at our lowest margin of thickness to safely hold a race. ie: 8" in places, less in others. Our safety concern is pit area and staging, and the stress of sleds and crews standing in one spot for hours during the day. We can't afford to run afoul with the DNR if we have a sled or many sleds end up in the drink. The chance of not being able to pull permits for future events is something we can't afford to overlook in the hopes of running an event in what has been one of the warmest winters in history.
We also factored in the concern of getting a possible 2-5 inches of wet heavy snow tonight and tomorrow with the winter advisery that wzzm 13 feels will upgraded to a warning as well, that will add to the weight we need the ice to support, we also need to consider the fact that we would need two truck to plow the ice in a timely manner so we could get started racing at noon, but with shore ice that is sketchy, getting a truck onto the ice will be a challange, we could try to do quads, but we are asking a lot of volunteers to use their personal equipment that might be damaged in the attempt and still might not be able to plow a safe track to hold races and having guys drive long distances just to have to turn around and go home.
So we will wait and see what March 3rd holds in regard to getting in another race yet this season.

Finally, the ICE RACING has come back to Lakeview and the BEVRA racers did their best to TEAR IT UP!!!!!
Had some thrills, a few spills, and some of the closest racing we've seen in years.

Twenty-eight racers competed for the Stud Boy Cup, after working through a series of hotly contested heat races, semi finals and a pair of LCQ races where the winner advanced to the final, the awesomely fast Polaris TX440 of Tim Hutchison held off the Polaris of Aaron Giles and the Yamaha of Zach Noteboom in an awesome race that was full of tough battles all over the track.

Race 3 Postponed
Mother Nature wins another one in the year without a winter... Round 3 scheduled for this Saturday is postponed. We are shooting to race on the 11th. The track is looking good, we just want to make the pit area is strong enough to support a bunch of sleds and people standing around.
Keep on praying for colder weather and we'll race when we can.

All races held on Tamarack Lake in Lakeview MI, just 40 mins north of Grand Rapids on M-46 East.
Registration opens at 8 am till 11 am. Hot Laps at 9:30am till 11 am. Drivers Meeting at 11:45 am Racing starts at Noon.
Special Race coming for the Lakeview Winterfest.

Point System
Once again BEVRA will be doing the High Points Championship. All Points will be accumulated through out the year and who ever has the most points at the end of the year wins.
Couple of changes this year on how points are awarded. First to ensure heat laps are being run everyone who completes there Heat Race will receive 1 bonus point. If your heat race is not finished, the bonus point will not be awarded and will have to start in the second row during finals.
Also points during finals are based on how many sleds are involved in the race. EX. if there are 6 sleds racing First place will receive 6 points plus there bonus point if they finished there heat race.

Formed in 2003, BEVRA is a non-profit group of vintage snowmobile racers promoting safe and family orientated oval racing of vintage snowmobiles. Formed by racers of varying backgrounds which include; Ice Ovals, Drag Racing, and Sno-Cross, each board member has contributed their personal knowledge and talents to help create what we feel is the best vintage racing circuit in Michigan, with the most complete and fair rules, BEVRA will continue to strive to fulfill the racers need for a safe and fun filled yet highly competitive racing experiance.
