Steve Hugenell wins the Jim Adema/Wayne Koomen Memorial Cup
August 23rd 2008.

Steve Hugenell of Homer Michigan, capped off a tremendous day of vintage grass drag racing at the 2nd Annual BEVRA Vintage Grass drags at Nelson's
Speed Shops Sno-Motion 09 to claim the Jim Adema/Wayne Koomen Memorial Cup on his #7 1979 Yamaha SRX 440 by holding off hard charging driver Dean Kissinger of Irons Michigan on Jason Noteboom's #67 1980 Yamaha SRX 440.

The 2008 drags had 97 entries in 14 classes and the Vintage Snowmobile Display had 31 beautiful vintage sleds for the world to see.

A special tribute to two West Michigan area Sno*Jet racing greats, Jim Adema and Wayne Koomen kept the crowd of over 2000 spectators entertained all day long, with special honored guests, Patti (Adema) Senneker, Greg Koomen, Bruce Koomen, Cindy Koomen, Cliff Dayton, Sid McNees, Bill Reed Jr., and many many more from the West Michigan area made this an event unlike BEVRA has ever had the honor to put on. To say the BEVRA Board of Directors were smiling all day long into the evening would be an understatement. We were blessed with great weather, and great competitors and great fans. A perfect recipe for a great race and show. Special event winners were Terry Underwood for the 50/50 raffle, Deb McNees was the winner of the 1980 Polaris Cutlass donated to Bevra to raffle off by Rich Challender III. Thanks Rich for the awesome gesture!!! BEVRA is proud to have great members like yourself.
